G5 Voodoo Neo What's New?
The G5 Voodoo Neo range introduces the new Communications Module, which brings faster USB connection speed for faster log file downloads, Ethernet, and faster Wi-Fi.
Neo also introduces new Input/Output pin types, not seen on prior Link ECU’s.
Communications
USB-C
Like all G5 ECU’s, G5 Voodoo Neo comes with USB-C Connectivity. New to Neo, now the ECU can be partially powered up over USB-C Power - enough to connect to PC Link, change settings, download logs, perform firmware updates etc. Not all hardware functionality will be available while on USB power, for example Analog Voltages will show 0V and output statuses will show 'Off'. When powered by USB, rather than by main ECU power, the connected status in PC Link will show blue, not green.
Ethernet
The new Comms module adds Ethernet capability to Link ECU’s. Ethernet functions just like USB, and can be used to tune the car, and download logs etc. It also adds the ability to connect to the ECU over a network.
You can not do firmware updates over ethernet.
Wi-Fi
The new Comms module brings far faster speeds to Wi-Fi, allowing similar connection speed to USB.
You can not do firmware updates over Wi-Fi.
CAN
CAN 1 on the Communications Panel supplies +14V power for the CAN bus through a new Weipu connector. Rated up to 3.6A continuous. It is suitable for powering a CAN Lambda.
Pin types
The G5 Voodoo Neo range introduces ADIO pins which were formerly exclusive to the Razor PDM and the new Aux/DI pins to Link ECU’s. These pins can act as either an input, or an output, greatly expanding the way you can use Link ECU’s.
ADIO
Analog-Digital-Input-Output pins can function as Auxilliary Outputs, Analogue Volt Inputs, and switched Digital Inputs.
When functioning as Auxiliary Outputs, ADIOs can be used as either switched (on/off) or PWM output.
ECU ADIOs are Low-Side output only (switching ground) and have a weak pull-up resistor.
When functioning as Analogue Volt Inputs, ADIOs have an analogue measurement range of 0 to +5V. Higher voltages such as VBat will not damage the ECU, but the value will not display over +5V.
When functioning as Digital Inputs, ECU ADIOs can only be used for switched applications (not PWM).
When functioning as Digital Inputs, ADIOs can use a configurable pull-up resistor to detect when a pin is grounded.
Aux/DI and Inj/DI
Aux/DI pins should be thought of as two separate pins sharing one physical pin, as such, they will appear in PC Link as just a standard Aux, Injector, or DI pin. They can only act as one pin type at a time. Like any injector pin, Inj/DI pins can be used as Aux pins when not used for injection.
When used as a DI, they have the ability to read PWM/Frequency.
When used as an Aux, they have a weak pull-up resistor enabled, and are low side PWM capable
When used as an Aux, these pins are synchronous capable. This means they are suitable to use to drive direct injection high pressure fuel pumps.
Neo 4 has 4x Aux/DI pins
Neo 6 has 4x Inj/DI pins.
Mounting Options
More mounting options have been included in the design of the case of the G5 Voodoo Neo. Including:
4x Through holes to suit M5
4x Side mount M5 threaded holes
4x Underside mount M5 Threaded holes
